Personalization - Helping you to create a meaningful funeral
As we work daily to bring the best products and services available to our families we have found that making each service fit the person is so important.  To accomplish this we work with a program we call "Personalization".  This program gives us the  ability to change the casket's interior and exterior theme to reflect the life interest of the loved one.  Below is a brief summany of some of the ways we provide this valuable service:

  • LIFESYMBOLS DESIGNS enable families to change the casket's corner or alcove theme.  There are more than 20 different corners including religious, military, sports, hobbies and occupational themes.  These symbols can be removed following commital services and kept as keepsakes.  There is no additional charge for these corners.
  • COMMEMORATIVE PANELS enable families to change the theme of the interior casket lid design.  You can select the theme that best commemorates their loved ones' personal life interests.
  • MEMORY SAFE DRAWERS provide a place where families can put notes and special memorabilia.  Keepsakes, pictures and letters are just three items that many families like to use this feature for.  The drawer can be left open for all to see or it can be closed for privacy.
  • MEMORIAL RECORD SYSTEM provides a record of identification, if needed, without opening the casket.  It is also an opportunity to enclose the personal history of the deceased and place in the memorial record tube.
  • LIVING MEMORIAL TREE PLANTING PROGRAM In cooperation with Batesville Casket Company and various government agencies, a tree is planted in memory of the families loved one upon the funeral director's request.  The tree is planted where the need is greatest.

Casket Material Create Value Differences
Traditional caskets come in both metal and wood options.

Metal
Metal caskets can be divided into the following three categories:

  •  Precious metals (Bronze and Copper)
These caskets are the finest metals used in casket construction because of their permanence and durability.  Bronze is stronger than copper and neither of these will ever rust.
  •  Stainless Steel
These caskets provide rust resistance and come in two grades.  Premium stainless, like that used in kitchen sinks, is made of 18% chromium and 8% nichel.  Basic stainless offers less rust resistance because it is made with 12% chromium.
  • Carbon Steel caskets come in 3 thicknesses:
    1.  16 Guage - the thickest steel used, is 133% longer lasting than the thinnest 20 gauge.  16 sheets of 16 gauge steel equal one inch.
    2.  18 Gauge - the medium thickness of steel, is 58% longer lasting than the thinnest 20 gauge steel
    3.  20 Gauge - the thinnest steel used in making caskets

Wood
Some families prefer wood caskets because of the warmth and beauty of the various wood species.  Wood caskets are unique because of the individual graining pattern of the tree, which means no two caskets are alike.  Woods can be divided into two categories, those made of solid wood and those that feature a face veneer over an engineered wood substrate.

  • Solid Wood
These caskets are constructed from carefully selected, top grades of kiln dried lumber with matching grain patterns for the best appearance.
  • Premium Veneer
These caskets have a structurally superior lid that is made using all cherry wood and strengthening resins which helps resist warping, cracking and splitting that can occur in a solid wood product.  Premium veneers are then applied to the lid, and side panels, which are constructed of engineered wood for a consistent smooth look.  Veneer caskets allow families a visually appealing, structurally superior wood casket at an attractive price.  The premium and most valuable wood species are mahogany and walnut.  Standard wood species include cherry, pecan, maple and oak.  Basic wood species include pine and poplar.

Casket Design Creates Value Differences
A caskets construction method, design and features create value and price differences.  Both metal and wood caskets have very different exterior designs.  Some designs require more time to manufacture than others.  Some caskets have a more rounded appearance, others appear more square, while still others contain a more traditional appearance.
