Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel was founded in 1965 by Gary Simon when his father Lynn Simon developed property on what was then the outskirts of Woodburn on Boones Ferry Road. After completing Mortuary School in San Francisco, Gary returned home to the develop the business. Through active participation in community events, including Rotary, the St. Paul Rodeo Association, the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce, the Woodburn Jaycees, the Oregon State Mortuary and Cemetery Board and the Oregon Funeral Directors Association, Gary was able to build relationships which resulted in building the business. After 35 years of service, Gary sold the business but remains active in the community of Woodburn. He is currently serving as Chairperson of the Silverton Hospital Board of Directors and a member of the Oregon Beef Council. He also continues to be available to help families with funeral services at their request.
Since the change in ownership, Tim Brandvold, works with Robert Cornwell to extend the same personal service for which Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel has been noted for. Our goal is to provide the best service possible when we are needed.
