Carolyn Hayes Wallace

Carolyn Lucas Wallace, 93, died on January 25, 2017 in Mt. Angel. She was born in LaGrande, Oregon, on April 18, 1923, to Thomas and Irene Hayes. Carolyn grew up in Centralia, WA, and attended Centralia College, graduating with a degree in dietics. She married Emil Lucas, in 1944 and had three daughters who they raised together in Milwaukie, Oregon. That marriage ended and Carolyn married George Wallace in 1971. Together they ran a successful cement contracting business in Ontario, Oregon, before moving to the Woodburn Senior Estates in 1988. Carolyn was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, an active member of PEO Chapter DT, DAR, and the Woodburn Garden & Golf Clubs. In 2013 Carolyn moved to Orchard House Assisted Living in Mt. Angel. She was preceeded in death by her beloved daughter, Emily Lucas Zoske and her husbands, Emil Lucas and George Wallace. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Kit) Hopkinson of Steilacoom, WA, and Lynne Lucas of Eugene, OR, sister Beverly Riddell of Shoreline, WA, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Woodburn on January 31st at 1pm. Visitation is the same day 10-11am at Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Final resting place will be Willamette National Cemetary. Family requests remembrances can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn, is in charge of arrangements.
