Thomas B. Cole

Thomas Bradford Cole 8/26/1938—12/26/2020 Born in Fallriver, MA to Abbott H. Cole and Avis T. Cole. Formative years spent in West Barrington, graduating from Barrington High School in 1956. Member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. Granted 4 year scholarship to Webb Institute of Naval Architecture, graduating 1960 with BS degrees in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Received MS from University of Connecticut in Mechanical Engineering. Toms career took him from coast to coast, starting with Electric Boat as an engineer building Nuclear Submarines. He had the honor to attend sea trials with Admiral Rickover. He finalized his career in Seattle overseeing the development and installation of security systems on the WA St Ferries after 9/11, retiring at age 75. He married Marilyn Anderson of Barrington in 1960. They found the first of many homes in Old Lyme, CT and fully restored a 170 year old farm house on the Boston Post Rd. A daughter Kathy Cole and son Thomas B. Cole Jr. were born in CT. In 1968 they moved to CA and daughter Laura was born. Tom continued with engineering working with Lockheed Missile and Space on many special projects. Progressed to American President Lines enlarging container ships mid section. Eventually he advanced to VP of Marketing and Finance for Morris Guralnick Associates. As Tom’s father’s life came to a close the family returned to the East Coast and Tom took a position with JJ McMullen Associates of Bath, Maine. Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn A. Cole, and his children Kathy C. McCourt, Thomas B. Cole, Jr. and Laura C. Barrie. Grandchildren: Matthew C. McCourt, Laura M. McCourt, Alexander A. Cole, Daniel M. Cole, Jonathan C. Barrie, and Katherine (Kallie) Barrie. His brother, Russell C. Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents Abbott and Avis Cole. Due to the current Covid pandemic a memorial service will be held at a future date.
