Verna Bell Cummings

Verna Bell Cummings was born in Holly, Colorado, September 2, 1935 to William and Minnie Bell Fosbinder. She and her family moved to Ola, Idaho where they lived on her grandfather’s ranch. When she was six years old, the family moved to Emmett, Idaho. Verna attended Wardwell Elementary school and then Emmett High school. She graduated from high school June 6th, 1953, and she and Pete Cummings drove to Winnemucca, Nevada, on June 8th and were married that same night by justice of the peace, John Howard. Their wedding was attended by Pete’s parents, Jack and Marie Heisnger. Verna worked as a waitress for several years in Woodburn and Salem, Oregon and at the Blue Onion Restaurant in Santa Barbara, California where Pete was attending Brooks Inst of Photography. They returned to Oregon where Pete worked as a photographer and she went to Phagens Beauty College. She graduated from that school in 1967 and has worked as a hairdresser in several locations and finally at her own shop in her home for the remaining years. She and Pete had 4 daughters, Connie (Richard Phiffner), Deanna, Carla (Richard Yeo), and Candace (Jerry Hagenauer). Deanna died when she was two months old. Two granddaughters born of Richard and Carla Yeo, Jayme (Robert), Jaclyn (Casey), great grandson Harper.
